NEW DELHI: Utsav, an Indian religion-tech and puja booking platform, has raised ₹36 crore in a Series A funding round led by Atomic Capital. The round also saw participation from existing investors India Quotient and Equanimity Investments, both of whom doubled down on their earlier investments.
According to the company, the newly raised capital will be deployed to accelerate product development, technology infrastructure, user growth, and team expansion. Utsav is positioning itself as a digital layer connecting devotees, temples, and religious rituals across India as well as the global Indian diaspora.
The fundraise follows a period of rapid growth for the platform. Utsav reported an eightfold increase in revenue since its previous funding round of ₹6.35 crore in February 2025. The platform currently fulfills 2.5 lakh orders a month, driven by recurring devotional cycles such as Amavasya, Purnima, Ekadashi, Sankranti, Shravan, and Navratri.
The platform offers a range of services designed to bridge the gap between traditional practices and digital convenience. Users, including families based abroad in locations like Dubai, can book authentic pujas at revered temples, connect with verified pujaris, hear their name and gotra during the sankalp, watch rituals live, and receive consecrated prasad at their doorsteps.
Market participants note that India's religious ecosystem remains largely offline and fragmented despite the presence of roughly 650,000 temples—averaging about one temple every five square kilometers. Traditional processes for booking pujas or receiving prasad have historically relied on chance, distance, and word of mouth. Utsav aims to address this lack of digital infrastructure within the country's devotional sector.
With additional offerings in the pipeline, the company plans to further expand its service suite, which currently includes pujas, pujari consultations, prasad, and personalized rituals.
"The religion-tech sector in India represents a massive untapped market due to the sheer scale of the country's unorganized spiritual and temple ecosystem. Utsav's eightfold revenue growth since February 2025 demonstrates clear consumer demand for digital convenience in traditional practices. By organizing this fragmented sector and leveraging recurring devotional cycles, the platform is addressing a genuine gap in consumer infrastructure. As they deploy this capital toward technology and product scale, the challenge will be maintaining operational trust and authenticity across geographies." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
