SC Agrotech has officially launched its digital agriculture marketplace, AgriBridge, with the mobile application going live on Wednesday. This new venture introduces a technology-led platform to the company's existing operations in the agricultural sector.
According to the company, AgriBridge is designed to bring together farmers, agricultural suppliers, and institutional buyers. The platform facilitates digital crop listings, buyer discovery, price quotations, and transaction-management workflows.
SC Agrotech stated that the commercial appeal of the model lies in its potential to generate recurring revenue from agricultural transactions and related services as user adoption scales. If the company successfully builds a network of active farmers and institutional buyers, AgriBridge could serve as an additional growth driver for the business.
Financial analysts have outlined potential scaling models for the platform. Under an illustrative deployment of ₹10 crore, an annual marketplace Gross Merchant Value (GMV) of ₹125 crore—paired with an assumed 5.2 per cent monetisation rate—would produce ₹6.5 crore in modelled revenue and approximately ₹1.4 crore in annual profit after tax. In a larger ₹100 crore expansion scenario, an annual GMV of ₹1,000 crore could potentially generate ₹52 crore in platform revenue and about ₹12 crore in net profit, based on specific operating-cost assumptions.
The launch follows a period of positive market movement for SC Agrotech. The company’s shares rallied 37 per cent across seven trading sessions, driven by a jump in quarterly earnings. The stock climbed from ₹31 on October 23 to ₹42 on November 3, and recently traded at ₹44, putting it roughly 4 per cent below its 52-week high of ₹44.
"The launch of AgriBridge by SC Agrotech highlights a growing trend of traditional agricultural businesses integrating technology to capture recurring revenue streams. Moving from physical operations to a digital marketplace model allows companies to scale efficiently by connecting fragmented supply chains, from individual farmers to large institutional buyers. However, the long-term success of such platforms will depend heavily on user adoption rates, transaction volume growth, and the ability to maintain sustainable unit economics as the platform scales." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
