Pharmaceutical and nutraceutical company Steadfast Ltd has invested over ₹100 crore to establish a fully integrated facility in Noida. The capital deployment has funded a Formulation Research & Development (FR&D) facility, a nutraceutical manufacturing plant, and an advanced quality control laboratory.
According to the company, the initiative is designed to build research and manufacturing capabilities in India and contribute to the country's self-reliance in the nutraceutical sector. The industry currently faces fragmented infrastructure, with research, manufacturing, and quality control often separated. Brands frequently depend on multiple third-party vendors for formulation development, production, and testing.
The newly established plant supports multiple supplement delivery formats, including tablets, powders, capsules, and effervescent tablets. Its annual production capacity is rated at 900 million tablets, 130 million capsules, 900 million effervescent tablets, and 6,500 tonnes of powder.
The facility features advanced automation and operates under licenses from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). It has been built in alignment with the World Health Organisation’s Good Manufacturing Practices guidelines.
Alongside production, the campus houses a quality control laboratory equipped with more than 140 analytical instruments sourced from domestic and global manufacturers. The lab is set up to conduct testing across all stages of production to verify purity and quality, and is currently pursuing accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories, which operates under the Quality Council of India.
Aman Puri, CEO of Steadfast Ltd, noted that the investment aims to strengthen domestic manufacturing capabilities. He pointed out that India currently imports a higher volume of supplements than it produces, with foreign brands holding a dominant market share. Investments in advanced manufacturing, scientific research, and quality systems are expected to support consumer confidence and help position India as a global manufacturing hub.
"The decision by Steadfast to invest over ₹100 crore in an end-to-end integrated facility highlights a crucial shift toward quality control and self-reliance in the Indian nutraceutical sector. By bringing formulation research, manufacturing, and testing under one roof in Noida, the company addresses common supply chain fragmentation issues. As consumer demand for health supplements grows, investments in WHO-GMP compliant infrastructure and advanced testing labs will be vital for domestic brands aiming to compete with imported alternatives and scale globally." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
