Smartphone manufacturer Vivo has introduced its latest offering, the Vivo T5, targeting the competitive premium mid-range segment. Positioned between the brand's 'Y' and 'V' series, the lineup aims to cater to young professionals, students, gamers, and power users looking for performance, battery life, and design features without flagship pricing.
Priced starting at ₹34,999, the Vivo T5 enters the ₹35,000 to ₹50,000 smartphone category, competing with models such as the OnePlus 13R and iQOO Neo 10. The device features a glass front paired with a plastic frame and rear panel, a matte finish, and a 3D-curved AMOLED display available in Royal Bronze and Silver Green.
On the durability front, the smartphone includes IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance, alongside MIL-STD-810H certification. It also supports wet-hand touch and one-tap water ejection features.
The display is a 6.83-inch 1.5K curved AMOLED screen with up to 144 Hz refresh rates and HDR10+ support. Audio is handled by stereo speakers, complemented by a balanced sound signature for media consumption.
Under the hood, the Vivo T5 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7500 Turbo chipset built on a 4 nm process, paired with an eighth-generation NPU and Vivo's AI feature suite. In benchmarking tests, the device recorded an AnTuTu score of 1,260,108. It runs OriginOS 6 and comes with a manufacturer commitment of three Android OS upgrades and five years of security updates.
For optics, the smartphone is equipped with a 50 MP Sony IMX882 primary camera with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), an 8 MP ultra-wide camera, and a 32 MP front-facing shooter. Both front and rear cameras support 4K video recording, while software capabilities include AI Erase 2.0, Aura Light, and multi-focal portrait modes.
A notable feature of the Vivo T5 is its 7,050 mAh battery, housed in a relatively slim 7.9 mm chassis weighing 199 grams. The device provides around 8 hours of screen-on time in everyday use and supports 44 W FlashCharge technology, which charges the battery from 10 per cent to 60 per cent in under 30 minutes.
While reviewers noted drawbacks such as an inconsistent ultra-wide camera and pre-installed bloatware, the Vivo T5 presents a functional package combining battery capacity, display quality, and processor performance for the mid-range consumer base.
"The launch of the Vivo T5 highlights how smartphone brands are increasingly focusing on balancing high-capacity components, such as a 7,050 mAh battery, with sleek form factors in the mid-range segment. By targeting a price point between ₹34,999 and ₹50,000, Vivo is addressing consumer demand for extended battery life and durable hardware without moving into flagship price brackets. For hardware manufacturers, long-term software support and functional reliability remain critical drivers for capturing market share in this competitive tier." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
