Speciality chemicals company Zydex Group is expanding its dealer and retail network to scale its silicate mineral paint and waterproofing business. The Gujarat-based firm is targeting revenues of Rs 150 crore in the current financial year and Rs 300 crore over the next two years.

Gujarat-based speciality chemicals company Zydex Group is scaling up its retail presence and dealer network as part of its strategy to expand its footprint in India's paints and coatings market. According to Managing Director Dr. Moulik Ranka, the company has lined up a product pipeline aimed at the mass market to make its silicate mineral paint technology more accessible.

Last year, Zydex entered into an exclusive licensed manufacturer-and-distributor partnership with Germany's KEIMFARBEN GmbH to introduce silicate technology to India. The firm aims to shift market focus from periodic repainting to long-term durability, offering a minimum 20-year warranty against colour fading and film failure.

Zydex utilizes potassium water glass, an inorganic binder that forms a microporous structure, allowing moisture vapour to escape while blocking rain. This process chemically bonds the paint with the masonry substrate, preventing issues such as peeling, dampness, and fungal growth. The formulations also feature ultra-low VOC levels and fire-safety properties.

While the company currently derives about 90 percent of its business from repeat customers across real estate, infrastructure, and industrial projects—including adoptions by developers like Lodha and M3M—its next phase of growth centers on retail expansion. Zydex is actively growing its dealer and contractor network to build a national presence.

Financially, Zydex expects its revenue to reach approximately Rs 150 crore in the current financial year, up from Rs 90 crore in the previous fiscal year. The company has set a target of Rs 300 crore in revenue over the next two years, translating to a more than three-fold increase from last year's figures. Long-term projections estimate segment growth between 25 and 50 percent annually over the next decade.

To support this growth, Zydex has invested in modern manufacturing facilities designed to scale operations for the next five to seven years while maintaining inventory to absorb supply chain disruptions. The company also plans to introduce new facade solutions, including renders and specialty finishes for concrete, expanding its portfolio for both commercial infrastructure and residential consumers.

"Zydex's growth strategy highlights the importance of leveraging advanced material science and strategic international partnerships to carve out a distinct market niche. By shifting the consumer focus toward lifecycle cost and long-term durability rather than short-term aesthetics, the company is addressing a real gap in the Indian building materials sector. Their clear revenue targets and focus on scaling both B2B project business and retail distribution demonstrate a methodical approach to sustainable business growth." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
