ASUS continues to expand its enterprise footprint with the ExpertBook P5, a business-focused laptop designed for professionals, small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), hybrid workers, and enterprise customers. Positioned distinctly from consumer and creator lineups, the device prioritizes productivity, security, and serviceability.
The laptop features a 1.36kg all-aluminium chassis with a clean matte silver finish, built to withstand daily use while maintaining a sturdy feel with minimal lid flex. Practical design elements include a 180-degree lay-flat hinge, a one-handed opening lid, rounded edges, and a full-size keyboard with 1.5mm key travel alongside a large anti-fingerprint touchpad.
A notable highlight of the ExpertBook P5 is its focus on long-term serviceability. Major internal components—including RAM, SSD, battery, and the Wi-Fi card—are user-upgradable, simplifying repairs and hardware upgrades compared to standard thin-and-light laptops.
The review unit features a 14-inch 16:10 IPS panel with a 2560 x 1600 resolution, a 144Hz refresh rate, 400 nits of peak brightness, and 100 percent sRGB coverage. Equipped with an anti-glare matte finish, the display minimizes reflections in bright office environments and delivers strong contrast and accurate color reproduction for everyday media consumption and office tasks.
Connectivity is a core strength of the device. The left side houses two Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports, a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A port, an HDMI 2.1 output, and a 3.5mm audio combo jack. The right side features an additional USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A port, a recessed RJ-45 Ethernet port, and a Kensington lock slot, reducing reliance on external dongles.
For audio and communication, the laptop includes a 2W + 2W stereo speaker setup tuned by DIRAC, dual-array microphones with AI-assisted noise cancellation, and a 1080p IR webcam supporting Windows Hello along with a physical privacy shutter.
Under the hood, the ExpertBook P5 pairs Intel Core Ultra H-series processors with Intel Arc integrated graphics, supporting up to 96GB of DDR5-5600 RAM and dual SSDs. The tested configuration—featuring a Core Ultra 7 356H processor, 32GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD—demonstrated strong single-core and multi-core performance, easily handling demanding tasks like large spreadsheets, heavy multitasking, and local large language models.
Powered by a 63Wh battery and bundled with a 65W USB-C charger, the laptop delivers between 12 and 14 hours of battery life during general productivity tasks. It also supports fast charging, capable of reaching up to 83 percent charge in 49 minutes.
Competing in a market segment dominated by established enterprise lines such as the Dell Latitude, HP EliteBook, and Lenovo ThinkPad, the ASUS ExpertBook P5 offers a balanced mix of performance, expandability, and serviceability for professional users.
"The focus on serviceability and hardware upgradeability makes the ASUS ExpertBook P5 a practical consideration for businesses looking to extend the lifecycle of their IT assets. In the enterprise and SMB segments, hardware longevity and comprehensive port selection directly impact operational efficiency and cost management. As hybrid work models persist, productivity-focused devices that balance performance with repairability will continue to find steady demand among corporate buyers." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
