Jio Platforms Ltd marked its official stock market debut on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, with a listing ceremony at the National Stock Exchange (NSE) in Mumbai. The event brought together four generations of the Ambani family to ring the opening bell and launch the company's shares onto the public market.
Non-Executive Directors Mukesh Ambani and Isha Ambani attended the bell-ringing ceremony alongside matriarch Kokilaben Ambani, Nita Ambani, Akash Ambani, Anant Ambani, and other family members. The listing served as a public showcase for the digital centerpiece of the broader Reliance empire, which Mukesh Ambani has spent the past decade building.
During the event, Mukesh Ambani's three children took the stage to address investors and reflect on the family's business history. Akash Ambani told investors that Jio aims to create value for the next 50 years, drawing a parallel to the trajectory of parent company Reliance Industries Ltd over the preceding five decades. Isha Ambani and Anant Ambani shared similar sentiments during the ceremony, recalling historical milestones including Mukesh Ambani working on Reliance's first public offering as a 20-year-old.
The emphasis on family continuity and unity was a central theme of the listing. Mukesh Ambani has previously described his three children as “three bodies, one soul” and has stated his intention for the company to remain a single, indivisible entity as the next generation assumes greater leadership responsibilities. The public display of family solidarity carries added significance given the history of the previous generation, which experienced a well-documented succession dispute following the death of founder Dhirubhai Ambani in 2002 and the subsequent division of family businesses three years later.
The listing event highlighted both the operational scale achieved by Jio Platforms over the last decade and the formal transition of leadership responsibilities to the younger generation within India's prominent business dynasty.
"The public listing of Jio Platforms marks a significant milestone not just for the telecom and digital sector, but for legacy business succession in India. Managing leadership transitions while maintaining enterprise stability is a complex challenge for multi-generational business families. By bringing the next generation to the forefront during a major public market debut, the leadership has provided a clear signal to investors regarding continuity, long-term vision, and unified corporate governance." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
