NEW DELHI — Parth Jindal has formally taken over as the Chairman of JSW MG Motor India, stepping into the leadership role as the automaker enters a key expansion phase in the Indian passenger-vehicle market.
The company announced the board's decision on Monday. Jindal has served on the board since the formation of the joint venture between India's JSW Group and China's SAIC Motor. In his previous capacity, he was involved in shaping the company's product strategy, manufacturing expansion, and localisation programme.
The appointment places Jindal at the forefront of a business where electric vehicles occupy a central position in the growth strategy. According to company data, JSW MG Motor India has sold over 150,000 electric vehicles since introducing its first EV in the country. The Windsor model currently stands as India's highest-selling electric vehicle.
Alongside its EV sales, the automaker is working to scale up its product portfolio, boost manufacturing capabilities, and establish a deeper local supply chain. The partnership leverages JSW Group's understanding of the Indian market alongside SAIC's global automotive expertise, with sustainable mobility and localisation remaining key operational priorities.
Outside of this joint venture, Jindal holds several leadership positions across the JSW ecosystem. He serves as the Managing Director of JSW Cement and JSW Paints, Chairman of JSW Dulux, and a director of JSW Energy. Additionally, he is the founder of JSW Sports and Chairman and co-owner of the Delhi Capitals franchise.
"The appointment of Parth Jindal as Chairman of JSW MG Motor India marks a strategic consolidation of leadership as the joint venture scales its operations in the competitive Indian passenger-vehicle market. With a clear emphasis on electric vehicles, manufacturing capacity expansion, and deeper supply chain localisation, strong leadership is essential to navigate capital-intensive growth. Combining JSW's domestic market insights with SAIC's global automotive expertise provides a solid foundation for the company's next phase of development in sustainable mobility." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
