SBI Funds Management reported a 10 per cent year-on-year increase in quarterly average assets under management to ₹13.1 lakh crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2026. During the same period, the company's operating profit for the first half of the financial year rose 11 per cent to ₹1,797 crore.

SBI Funds Management Ltd, the asset manager of SBI Mutual Fund, has reported its financial and operational performance for the quarter ended September 30, 2026. The company registered a 10 per cent year-on-year increase in its quarterly average assets under management (QAAUM), reaching ₹13.1 lakh crore.

For the first half of the financial year, the company posted an 11 per cent rise in operating profit, touching ₹1,797 crore. Operating revenue grew by 12 per cent to ₹2,336 crore, according to the company's release.

Actively managed equity assets averaged nearly ₹9 lakh crore during the September quarter, marking a 9 per cent year-on-year growth and securing a 12.4 per cent market share in the segment. Meanwhile, assets under management through systematic investment plans (SIPs) grew by 15 per cent to ₹2,07 lakh crore, accounting for a 12.3 per cent market share.

Backed by the State Bank of India and a joint venture with France-based asset manager Amundi, SBI Funds Management holds an overall market share of 15 per cent in India's mutual fund industry. With over 34 years of operational history, the firm offers a product portfolio encompassing actively managed and passive mutual funds, portfolio management services, and alternative investment products.

As of September 30, 2026, the firm maintained a workforce of 2,141 employees and operated 297 branches and points of acceptance. The company reported a total investor base of 1.85 crore customers.

The reported figures indicate steady expansion in scale and revenue generation across core segments, while the slower relative growth in operating profit compared to revenue highlights operational cost dynamics during the period.

"The steady growth in assets under management and systematic investment plans demonstrates continued retail and institutional participation in the Indian financial markets. While revenue growth has outpaced operating profit slightly, maintaining a 15 per cent overall market share reflects strong distribution reach and customer trust. For the broader financial services sector, scaling asset management profitably requires balancing operational expansion with cost efficiency as competition intensifies." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
