Bank of Baroda has announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, bob Securities & Giltedge Ltd, has commenced business as a non-deposit taking non-banking financial company. The launch is part of the bank's strategy to strengthen its presence in government securities and debt capital markets.

bob Securities & Giltedge Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bank of Baroda (BoB), has officially commenced business operations as a non-deposit taking non-banking financial company (NBFC).

According to a statement issued by the public sector bank, the launch marks a significant milestone in its overarching strategy to strengthen its presence within government securities and debt capital markets.

The bank stated that the establishment of the standalone primary dealer subsidiary aligns with its institutional vision to enhance the BoB Group through specialized capabilities, scale operations across business segments, and build a diversified financial services institution.

Commenting on the launch, Debadatta Chand, Managing Director and CEO of Bank of Baroda, said the new company will contribute to the development and deepening of India’s financial markets. He noted that the subsidiary will engage in market-making and related activities to enhance market efficiency and encourage wider investor participation, including through the RBI Retail Direct platform.

Chand further added that as the bank continues to diversify its financial services franchise, dedicated entities such as bob Securities & Giltedge Limited will play an important role in creating new avenues for growth and strengthening the overall BoB Group.

"The commencement of operations by bob Securities & Giltedge Ltd highlights a strategic move by a public sector banking major to build specialized capabilities in the financial services sector. By focusing on government securities and debt capital markets through a dedicated subsidiary, the institution is positioning itself to capture new growth avenues while supporting broader market development and investor participation in India's financial ecosystem." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
