INOX India has partnered with ITM SLS Baroda University, INOX Air Products, and Swagelok Bombay to launch the SemiOrbit Skill Excellence Centre in Vadodara. The facility aims to train students and professionals in specialized technical fields required for India's growing semiconductor manufacturing industry.

INOX India and three industry partners have launched a dedicated training facility in Vadodara aimed at developing skilled technical manpower for India’s emerging semiconductor manufacturing sector.

Inaugurated at the Paldi campus of ITM SLS Baroda University, the newly established SemiOrbit Skill Excellence Centre is a collaborative effort involving INOX India (INOXCVA), ITM SLS Baroda University, INOX Air Products, and Swagelok Bombay. According to an official release, the centre is designed to train students, engineers, and working professionals in critical semiconductor manufacturing disciplines, including orbital welding, process piping, and ultra-high-purity (UHP) gas distribution systems.

Under the terms of the collaboration, responsibilities are divided among the partners to leverage their respective industrial expertise. INOX India will provide the necessary cryogenic and gas infrastructure while training engineers. INOX Air Products will supply ultra-high-purity gases, and Swagelok Bombay will contribute technology and specialized knowledge in orbital welding and process piping. Meanwhile, ITM SLS Baroda University will spearhead the academic and training activities.

The curriculum at the centre will focus heavily on practical skills required for the installation, fabrication, and maintenance of UHP gas distribution systems, semiconductor process utility infrastructure, and advanced orbital welding applications.

Industry stakeholders noted that the initiative is designed to address the existing shortage of specialized technical talent as the country continues to build its domestic semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem. To achieve this, the facility will offer structured training programmes, practical workshops, certification courses, and hands-on learning opportunities aligned with the objectives of the government's India Semiconductor Mission.

"The establishment of specialized training centres like the SemiOrbit Skill Excellence Centre is a vital step for India's deep-tech and manufacturing ambitions. As the country builds its semiconductor ecosystem, bridging the technical talent gap through industry-academia collaborations ensures that workforce readiness matches capital investments in high-tech infrastructure." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
