JSW MG Motor India announced a 14 percent year-on-year increase in August wholesales, touching 7,508 units. The growth was supported by performance across its Internal Combustion Engine and New Energy Vehicle portfolios, alongside the recent launch and dispatch of the Tomahawk SUV.

NEW DELHI: JSW MG Motor India reported a 14 per cent year-on-year rise in wholesales for the month of August, reaching 7,508 units. In the corresponding period previous year, the company had recorded sales of 6,578 units.

According to the company's announcement on Tuesday, the growth was driven by continued momentum across both its Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) and New Energy Vehicle (NEV) portfolios.

Last month, JSW MG Motor India expanded its product lineup with the launch of the Tomahawk SUV. The new vehicle is built on the company's first SUV platform under its Multi-New Energy Vehicle architecture, known as ADAPT.

The Tomahawk SUV is made available in both Electric Vehicle (EV) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) powertrain options. Following the launch, the automaker confirmed that it has commenced dispatches of the MG Hector Tomahawk EV to dealerships across India.

"The steady double-digit growth reported by JSW MG Motor India highlights the expanding consumer adoption of diverse powertrain options in the Indian market. By balancing traditional Internal Combustion Engine models with New Energy Vehicles like the newly launched Tomahawk SUV in EV and PHEV formats, the company is effectively catering to shifting market preferences. Consistent dealership dispatches and portfolio diversification remain key to sustaining this retail and wholesale momentum." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
