Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal held a series of meetings with senior global executives from major multinational corporations, including pharmaceutical major Bayer, healthcare group Fresenius, and Knauf Group, to discuss investment and expansion opportunities in India.
During his interaction with Stefan Oelrich, President of the Pharmaceuticals Division at Bayer, Goyal discussed the company's ongoing expansion plans within the country. The talks focused on identifying opportunities to deepen Bayer's engagement with India's healthcare ecosystem by leveraging greater investment, innovation, and industry collaboration.
In a separate meeting, the Commerce Minister met with Michael Sen, CEO of Fresenius Group. Discussions centered on exploring avenues to deepen collaboration within the healthcare sector. According to official statements, the dialogue highlighted India's rapidly expanding healthcare market, the rising domestic demand for quality and affordable medical solutions, and the country's strong manufacturing capabilities. Goyal also explored how the group could utilize India's skilled talent pool to cater to both domestic and global markets.
Additionally, Minister Goyal met with Murat Akyildiz, Global General Partner at Knauf Group. The conversation focused on the company's expanding manufacturing operations in India, alongside potential avenues to strengthen partnerships in sustainable construction materials and infrastructure development.
These high-level discussions highlight the ongoing efforts by the government to engage with global enterprises looking to scale their manufacturing, R&D, and market operations in India.
"Engaging with global pharmaceutical and industrial leaders like Bayer, Fresenius, and Knauf Group reflects India's growing appeal as a key hub for manufacturing and healthcare innovation. For the broader business and startup ecosystem, these strategic government-level discussions open up new avenues for supply chain integration, talent utilization, and joint collaborations. As global players look to scale their operations in India, domestic enterprises and emerging ventures should position themselves to plug into these expanding industrial and healthcare value chains." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
