Major Indian companies including Tata Motors, CG Power, Adani Power, and Shriram Finance witnessed downward stock movements on the NSE ahead of their Q2 financial results for FY27. Meanwhile, several firms, including Nuvoco Vistas and Adani Energy Solutions, reported notable year-on-year net profit growths for the September quarter.

Ahead of their quarterly financial results announcements, several major listed entities on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) experienced declines in share prices. The trading session on Friday saw cautious market sentiment as investors awaited earnings reports from key companies spanning the IT, pharmaceutical, energy, automotive, and financial sectors.

Among the companies releasing their Q2 results for the period ended September 2026 are Infosys, Adani Power, JSW Steel, Tata Motors, Shriram Finance, Torrent Pharmaceuticals, CG Power and Industrial Solutions, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories.

Equity movements prior to the announcements reflected varied sentiment across sectors. Shares of CG Power and Industrial Solutions fell 4.86 per cent to close at ₹777.35, while Tata Motors declined 4.54 per cent to ₹395.45. Adani Power shares dropped 3.84 per cent to ₹178.16. Other notable downward movements included BPCL, which declined 2.18 per cent to ₹280.70, and Shriram Finance, which fell 2.13 per cent to ₹881.70. Torrent Pharmaceuticals dipped 1.69 per cent to ₹4,537.20, JSW Steel fell 1.49 per cent to ₹1,201.80, and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories slipped 0.52 per cent to ₹1,232.60. Conversely, Coforge Ltd bucked the trend slightly, rising 1.04 per cent to ₹1,928.70 on the NSE.

In sector-specific updates, pharma major Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories reportedly faced continued pricing pressure in the US market during the second quarter, which analysts noted could weigh on its operational margins. Concurrently, earnings reports from other listed entities revealed a mixed financial landscape for the September quarter.

Nuvoco Vistas Corp Ltd, the cement arm of the Nirma Group, posted a 78 per cent year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit to ₹64.5 crore, alongside a 13.5 per cent rise in revenue from operations to ₹2,790 crore, driven by sales volumes and broader business growth. Adani Energy Solutions Ltd (AESL) reported a 148 per cent year-on-year jump in consolidated net profit to ₹1,323 crore, supported by its transmission and energy solutions businesses. Similarly, Adani Total Gas recorded a 6 per cent rise in profit to ₹173 crore. Meanwhile, Nippon Life India Asset Management Company reported a 6 per cent decline in net profit to ₹324 crore compared to ₹345 crore in the corresponding period last year.

In the broader consumer and delivery space, Swiggy posted larger-than-anticipated losses while narrowing its overall Q2 loss, noting an increase in food delivery profit alongside widening losses in Instamart due to heavy expansion activities. Sony India reported a 19 per cent rise in FY26 profit to ₹187 crore on revenues near ₹7,920 crore. Sapphire Foods also reported its strongest quarterly revenue growth in four years, led by KFC performance amidst rising operating costs.

Additional operational updates included performance metrics from various mid-cap and small-cap enterprises. One listed entity reported consolidated revenue of ₹745 crore (up 45.1 per cent year-on-year) and a net loss of ₹4 crore, alongside plans to raise up to ₹300 crore via NCDs for debt refinancing and business growth. Another firm posted consolidated revenue of ₹696 crore with a net profit of ₹129 crore, while manufacturers like Garware maintained stable value-added product contributions and announced capital expenditure plans including a Memorandum of Understanding with Lubrizol for a TPU extrusion platform in India.

"The pre-earnings stock corrections observed across several major sectors highlight the cautious stance of market participants ahead of quarterly disclosures. While headline figures from early reporters like Nuvoco Vistas and Adani Energy Solutions show strong bottom-line growth, margin pressures in segments like pharmaceuticals and retail expansion costs underline the importance of operational efficiency. Investors are closely monitoring execution and guidance updates to gauge medium-term sectoral resilience." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
