NAN Enaex, a 50:50 joint venture between NAN GreenMet and Chile-based blasting solutions provider Enaex SA, has announced a planned investment of ₹750 crore to set up an integrated explosives manufacturing facility by 2027. Through this venture, Enaex expects India to contribute 10 per cent of its global sales, potentially reaching approximately $300 million.
The manufacturing unit will be strategically located close to customers and industrial infrastructure in Eastern India. The first phase of the facility will feature a capacity of 1.50 lakh tonnes of emulsion explosives and one million electronic detonators. The joint venture will offer modern emulsion explosives, electronic detonator systems, mine-to-mill optimisation services, and digital and AI-enabled tools designed for mining, quarrying, and civil infrastructure projects.
Annanya Agarwal, Co-founder and Director of NAN GreenMet, noted that India is heavily investing in civil infrastructure—ranging from hydropower and tunnelling to highways and railways—alongside the expansion of its mining sector. These developments require advanced technology, higher safety standards, and more efficient operations. Juan Andrés Errázuriz Domínguez, CEO of Enaex, added that the scale and complexity of India's ongoing infrastructure projects demand a specialized approach to blasting to achieve greater precision, better fragmentation, and tighter control.
India’s explosives market is estimated to reach $1.7 billion by 2030 and $2.7 billion by 2035, driven by expanding mineral production and large-scale infrastructure development. The country is targeting 300 million tonnes of steelmaking capacity by 2030, while select mining segments are projected to grow by 12 to 15 per cent annually. Additionally, the market is supported by a pipeline of more than 1,300 tunnels spanning 3,600 km across hydropower, railways, roads, and metros, backed by government capital expenditure allocations and non-fossil electricity capacity targets for 2030.
Enaex brings a century of history in providing blasting solutions, with direct operations across North and South America, Europe, Africa, and Oceania, alongside leading market positions in countries such as Chile, Peru, Brazil, and South Africa.
"The ₹750 crore investment by NAN Enaex highlights the growing confidence of international industrial players in India's expanding infrastructure and mining sectors. By bringing advanced blasting technologies and AI-enabled tools to Eastern India, this joint venture addresses a critical need for operational safety and efficiency as the country scales its steelmaking capacity and large-scale construction pipeline toward 2030." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
