Apparel manufacturer Gokaldas Exports posted a profit after tax of ₹41 crore for the second quarter of FY27, backed by higher income and improved performance across its India and Africa operations. Total income for the quarter rose 13 per cent year-on-year to ₹1,135 crore.

Apparel manufacturer and exporter Gokaldas Exports has reported a more than fivefold year-on-year increase in its profit after tax (PAT), reaching ₹41 crore for the second quarter of FY27. In the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year, the company had recorded a PAT of ₹8 crore.

Sequentially, however, the company's PAT registered a decline of 6.8 per cent, dropping from ₹44 crore in the first quarter of FY27.

During the seasonally weak quarter, the company registered a 13 per cent year-on-year growth in total income, which stood at ₹1,135 crore.

Segment-wise, revenue from the India business grew by 10 per cent, supported by a strong order book and better execution. Meanwhile, the Africa business recorded a 32 per cent growth, driven by higher volumes and improved realisations.

Sivaramakrishnan Ganapathi, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of Gokaldas Exports, noted that better order execution domestically and higher volumes and realisations internationally contributed to the strong income growth during the quarter. He added that a continued focus on productivity gains and a strong order book are expected to support growth and margins moving forward.

For the first half of FY27, Gokaldas Exports reported a 17 per cent year-on-year growth in total income, totaling ₹2,315 crore. During this six-month period, revenue from the India business increased by 13 per cent, while the Africa business registered a 39 per cent growth, similarly driven by higher volumes and realisations.

The company's earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) grew by 32 per cent during the first half of the fiscal year. This growth was supported by a better product mix, productivity gains, and a lower base from the corresponding period last year, which had been impacted by US tariffs.

On the financial position and balance sheet front, Gokaldas Exports reported a reduction in net debt, which declined to ₹429 crore as of September 2026, down from ₹553 crore as of March 2026.

"Gokaldas Exports' performance in the second quarter of FY27 highlights the importance of diversified geographic operations and strong order execution in stabilizing margins during a seasonally weak period. The significant reduction in net debt alongside top-line growth indicates disciplined financial management and operational efficiency. For businesses in the manufacturing and export sectors, focusing on productivity gains and optimizing product mix remains a reliable strategy to navigate external market pressures and regulatory challenges." — Dr. Shishir Gupta, Founder & CEO, StartupLanes
